A recent Marion Star article announced the Goal for Leadership Marion that Marion Chambers Larry Merchant said "Our goal is to provide future leadership for Marion and Marion advisory councils and Marion boards and that type of thing," Merchant said. "We're trying to take people in prominent businesses who are Chamber members and break them in on the demographics of Marion, what Marion has to offer. We deal with the positive side. As they grow we hope we are forming a hotbed for recruiters."

The class leaves a legagacy and a challenge to future class participants. All 10 of the graduates volunteered to become active on the advisory board and they opened a web site to promote the leadership development group so that  more businesses and citziens are aware of it and it's benifits to the community.
